  • Sausalito Fire Station - June Business Exchange

Thank you to Southern Marin Fire Protection District for hosting this morning’s Business Exchange. We were privileged to have Chief Chris Tubbs and Ted Peterson give an abbreviated version of bing prepared for a natural disaster, we’ve learned over the last few months especially that there is no way to not be over-prepared. Please see the link for the video presentation, and take the time to complete the survey to help the District and their needs. We look forward to another presentation in the future.

We had the please of officially welcoming our new CEO Juli Vieira and getting to know her better. She has spent the last week delving into Chamber business meeting the active committees and getting her feet on the ground. Juli will begin walk-about’s on Wednesday to get to know our business owners better and would love to have you join her. Email her at juli@ausalito.orgto get on her schedule.

Lastly we had the privilege of presenting a member plaque to new member Susan Haase of Peninsula Accounting—welcome Susan! We’re looking forward to having you get active in the Sausalito community! Thank you to the Charles M. Schulz Museum for the gift of passes to their Peanuts Exhibit. We did a raffle for our beloved Fire Department staff. Congratulations to Max Bouchard, Jeff Chance, Travis Fox, Jimmy O’Cnnor and Tony Vitale. Have a great time at the museum! Special thanks to DJ Ansari of Firehouse Coffees & Teas for providing the pastries and coffee—how convenient for them to be right next door!

Next Business Exchange will be at the Trident on July 10, and we will have a special speaker Jay Putnam—watch for details!

  • Poggio Trattoria - April Business Exchange

Thank you to Suzanne Cullen and Amy Svendberg for hosting the April Business Exchange at Poggio Trattoria.

We were happy to welcome Joshua Montemayor of the City of Sausalito as speaker at this month on the topic of Cannib Regulation in Sausalito. The City of Sausalito currently has in place interim cannabis regulations which prohibit all types of retail businesses operating within the City limits, with the exception of delivery services (originating outside of City limits). The interim regulations will expire in November, unless permanent regulations are adopted. Today’s Business Exchange meeting provided insight that majority of the existing business community are not opposed to a cannabis storefront retail business in Sausalito, such as a dispensary. An update will be presented before the City Council in May.
