Blue & Gold Fleet has announced a series of service adjustments across its San Francisco Bay operations, including schedule modifications and reduced off-peak frequency to better align with ridership demand and improve reliability. As part of these changes, the company will temporarily suspend its Sausalito Ferry service beginning May 3, 2026. Riders traveling between San Francisco and Sausalito are encouraged to use Golden Gate Ferry as an alternative.
Through May 3, the Sausalito route will continue operaating daily with four round-trip departures between Pier 41 and Sausalito, with one-way fares ranging from $9 to $14.75. Tickets remain flexible across scheduled departures, though round trips require two one-way purchases. Passengers holding tickets beyond May 3 should contact the company for assistance.
Blue & Gold Fleet’s Bay Cruises, charter services, and RocketBoat attractions will continue to operate out of Pier 39. The company noted that service levels will remain under evaluation and may be adjusted further based on ridership trends and seasonal demand.

California's Crowded, Touristy Sausalito Hides A Secret Downtown With Cool Shops And Food That Locals LoveAs many a visitor to San Francisco knows, Sausalito has charm all its own. Known as the "Venice of the West," this colorful and quirky California town across the bay is known for its bohemian houseboat community.
If you want to get to know Sausalito like the locals do, head instead to downtown's Caledonia Street. It runs parallel to Bridgeway in what's known as the New Town area, minus the bay views and touristy shops. This is where the locals shop; it's home to Waterstreet, Sausalito's only hardware store, and the town's library. Plus, there are plenty of places to get some food and soak in the atmosphere like a local. Read more >>

Generic With StyleA tour of Sausalito’s million-dollar houseboats — In the serene waters of Waldo Point Harbor, Sausalito's eclectic houseboat community enjoys everything from impromptu float-in concert performances by local musicians to informal fresh fish or ceviche sales from commercial fishermen—all set to the ever-present cries of seagulls and the gentle lapping of waves.
Among the 400-plus floating homes along the marinas' docks are luxurious multilevel vessels with sweeping water views, decks hovering just above Richardson Bay's surface and price tags surpassing $1 million. It's a far cry from the community's counterculture roots in the 1960s when artists and writers, tinkerers and other fringe-dwellers claimed abandoned wartime ships as alternative living spaces.
