Oonagh New HeadshotOonagh Kavanagh, CEO

Oonagh has lived in Sausalito for 20 years, having moved here from London in 1994.  She was born and raised in Ireland, where she graduated with an Honors degree in Business and Finance from University College Dublin. Oonagh has 25 years experience in the fields of education, HR and recruitment, fashion and retail store management, marketing and events. Oonagh puts this valuable and varied business experience to work in her role as CEO of the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce. Oonagh is also actively involved in local community theater and events and has served on the Board of the Sausalito Woman's Club.

Yolanda Finstad, Executive Assistant

Yolanda is a California native, growing up on the beaches of Southern Califonia.  In January 2005, Yolanda moved to Northern California, and now resides in Richmond. Yolanda  joined the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce Staff in March of 2008. Her previous experience includes a background in nursing, teaching, music and fashion design.

Jeff Scharosch, Chairman of the Board

Jeff has been actively involved in the Hospitality restaurant business for over 20 years with the past 15 years being in Sausalito as a general manager of the Spinnaker Restaurant.  Additionally he is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco Hospitality Industry Management Program.  Jeff’s local community involvement includes being co–chair of the Amgen Tour of California, Appointed Member of the Business Advisory Committee, Hospitality Committee and a Past President of the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce.

Kim HuffKim Huff, Immediate Past Chairman

Kim is the President and CEO of Kimber Communications, a Sausalito headquartered firm specializing in graphic design for print media and web.  Co-owner of Kimber Management, LLC and Kimber Commercial Brokerage Services, Inc., both Sausalito based real estate firms formed in 1991. Kim is a lifelong Marin County resident and has been actively involved in Sausalito’s business and cultural life. She has served on multiple boards in Sausalito, and is proud to have been a Past President of the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce, Sausalito Woman’s Club, and is especially proud to be a founding Director of Willow Creek Academy.

 

On the community level she has developed program and marketing materials for the City of Sausalito, Sausalito Rotary, Rotary Foundation 5150, Sausalito Chamber of Commerce and many more organizations. Kim rejoined the Board of Directors in 2012.

Chris Gallagher, Secretary

Chris has been in federal service for over 30 yrs. Her career started with the National Park Service before moving to the Forest Service and then bringing her to the Bay Model to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  She has served as their manager since 2001.  Chris has been  active in the Sausalito community serving as President of the Rotary Club of Sausalito, Founder & Past President of the Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS), Chairman of volunteers for the Tour of CA local organizing committee, as well as Chairman for the WAM (Waterfront and Marinship) Steering Committee. Chris has served on numerous non-profit boards in Marin including YMCA, Salvation Army, and Marin Literacy to name a few.  She will serve as the District 5150 Governor for Rotary 2014-15 which includes the counties of Marin, SF and San Mateo. Her true love is walking the dogs at the Marin Humane Society on the weekends. Chris grew up on the East Coast in Maryland and graduated from Dominican University in San Rafael.

Chris served as Chamber Board President in 2010.

Lorna Newlin, Treasurer

Lorna spent 20 years in the corporate world in the apparel industry. She is a long time resident and homeowner in Sausalito. During the summer of 2002 she followed her dream, left the corporate world, and opened her own studio—Sausalito Pottery. She joined the Chamber then, and has been an active member. Lorna has been creating pottery for over 25 years and loves that now she does it full time. She walks to her studio at the old MLK School on Coloma Street with her dog, Shadow. Lorna also teaches classes for adults and children at her studio and shares her joy in working in clay.

 

Lorna is a native Californian, a graduate of U.C. Irvine, and a life member of the Dolphin Club in SF, where she swims in the bay. There she’s been a Treasurer, Entertainment Commissioner, and for 10 years has done the accounting for the club. She is a member and past officer of the Sausalito Woman’s Club, and helps at many Sausalito Parks and Rec events.

Ann Arnott, Director

Ann Arnott has been active in the business, the artistic, and the social life of Sausalito for over 40 years. In the 70s, Ann and a partner opened the first restaurant on Caledonia Street.  Also in the 70s, she was elected President of the Sausalito Woman’s Club, and was eventually elected “Honored Member” in recognition of “her long and outstanding service.”  She was one of the earliest supporters of the Sausalito Art Festival -- and is currently President of the Art Festival Foundation. In 2005, Ann was elected to the Board of the Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District. And for over 20 years, she has been a Member of the Sausalito Chamber, who honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2008 and the Spirit of Marin Award in September 2009.

Jeff BoehmJeff Boehm, Director

Dr. Jeff Boehm joined The Marine Mammal Center as its Executive Director in 2008. The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California, is a federally permitted, non-profit, rehabilitation facility—a hospital—for marine mammals. Since its inception in 1975, the Center’s volunteers and staff have cared for more than eighteen thousand seals, sea lions and other marine mammals, while advancing robust science and education initiatives. Jeff was formerly the Senior Vice President of Animal Health and Conservation Science at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago where he worked for 16 years. There, Jeff oversaw the veterinary medical program and led and coordinated the aquarium’s conservation science division. Having grown up in Marin County, Jeff traces his career path back to a volunteer position he held at The Marine Mammal Center in 1980. Jeff received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego and his veterinary medical degree from the University of California at Davis. He is a diplomate of the American College of Animal Welfare.

Jeff joined the Sausalito Chamber Board of Directors in 2014.

Christopher Holbrook, Director

Christopher was born and raised in Sausalito. He owns Studio 333, the Bay Area’s largest fine art and event gallery.  The gallery is located on Caledonia St., which is considered the locals street. Christopher is very involved in the community. He currently serves on the Sausalito Hospitality Committee, hosts many fundraisers, art shows and coaches both baseball and football at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley. Christopher enjoys camping, snowboarding, going to flea markets and spending time with his 16 year old son, Devin.

 

Christopher joined the Sausalito Chamber Board of Directors in 2013 and received the Small Business o the Year in 2012.

Marina O’Neill, Director

Marina O’Neill has owned and operated, her own business, SF Bay Adventures, with her partner, Paul Dines since 2005. SF Bay Adventures is a charter boat business based in Sausalito, providing customized luxury charters and unique public sails on the San Francisco Bay. In 2010, Marina and Paul purchased and renovated their flagship the classic schooner FREDA B.

 

Marina has participated in a variety of local events and fundraisers with the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sausalito. She was actively involved in the Amgen Tour of California Local organizing Committee for 4 years and was Co-Chair of the highly successful Tour de Cuisine event, showcasing many of Sausalito’s great restaurants. Marina has been involved in the planning of the Concierge Tour, Sausalito’s and Sailfest. She joined the Sausalito Board of Directors in 2010.

 

She believes in the importance of developing community rather than competition, with a focus on local and sustainable business. She is also an enthusiastic supporter of women launching their own small businesses. Her interests include Hospitality, Travel, Sailing and Hiking.

 

SF Bay Adventures received Small Business of the Year 2013.

Marjorie chose to come and live in Sausalito in May 2011, having found her perfect place to live, when she cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge in 2009. She has over 25 years of international board level experience in the finance industry (Gibraltar, Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Britain). Originating from Jersey, Channel Islands, she left the world of scientific research after attaining her Master’s Degree in South Africa. Upon joining the financial services industry in Jersey, she studied for her Trustee Diploma and has continued over the years to increase her broad knowledge base.

 

While working in Jersey for Chase she served as President of the Institute of Bankers. Then while in Grand Cayman setting up a new company for an international service provider, she became involved in Rotary and was appointed to their board. Her current memberships include: STEP, IFS, BABC and BBS.

 

Coming to Sausalito was in part a decision to achieve a change of pace from the high pressure and long hours she had been used to. She is co-owner and CFO of Agile Marine LLC, looking after the financial aspects and regulatory side of the business. She also provides non-executive director, consulting and management development services to Bay Area organizations.

 

An avid cyclist, you’ll often see her on Bridgeway, heading to or from coffee.

 

Marjorie joined the Board of Directors in 2014.

peter van meterPeter Van Meter, Director

Peter Van Meter has been an owner and partner in new businesses and has held leadership positions in large corporations.  His diverse career includes extensive experience in sales, marketing, commercial real estate, computer and internet technology, finance, and aerospace engineering.  He is currently a corporate trainer in the field of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).  He has decades of volunteer and public service, formerly as a Sausalito Planning Commissioner, City Council Member and at present, a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Marin Fire Protection District. He and his wife Shelby have been Sausalito residents since 1974.

 

Peter joined the Sausalito Chamber Board of Directors in 2014.
